TNC hosts Advanced Coaches Training Workshop April 28-May 1, 2014 by Steven Victor
A training in Conservation Action Planning for advanced coaches was held in Guam from April 28-May 1, 2014. Facilitated by Steven Victor and Trina Leberer, both of TNC Micronesia, participants included individuals from Guam, CNMI, the Marshall Islands, Palau, Chuuk, Kosrae, Pohnpei and Yap.
Says Steven Victor, "This was a good group of participants. We were especially pleased to have the participation of members from the Humatak Community Foundation (HCF), which is one of the the first real community-based action groups in Guam. They have been eager participants in many conservation workshops, including this CAP training."
Trina Leberer also noted the positive were signs of growth in the conservation practitioner community in the region. "Benedict Yamamura of the Marshall Islands first caught my attention a few years ago when he was a Young Champion. Now, he is a bona-fide community leader. He exemplifies exactly the kind of commitment and evolution we hope for in these programs."
The newly trained coaches are planning to assist in several upcoming CAP workshops across the region.
