Opening ceremony of the Virtual Island Summit where
two of our Micronesia Challenge (MC) Heads of State will be giving a
keynote address along with other island leaders! We are thrilled to have
MC Leaders the Honorable Governor Leon Guerrero and His Excellency
President David Panuelo to speak about the success of the Micronesia Challenge,
the Guam Green Growth (G3) Initiative, FSM’s Blue Prosperity Coalition,
and the future of ocean protection and building sustainable livelihoods
in a changing world.
Additionally, we are proud to invite you to a panel hosted by the Waitt Institute Hometown
Heroes: Encouraging Local Champions for Ocean Protection on
September 9th, 11AM (Chamorro Standard Time). This
is a free, virtual panel featuring
ocean champions from the Federated States of
Micronesia,
Barbuda, Bermuda,
and the Maldives who are leading efforts to protect their
oceans.
The Hometown Heroes panel will explore the challenges and successes as they lead their communities on a path forward for ocean protection. How can governments and NGOs successfully support communities to build lasting ocean protection and health? And how can we inspire (and be inspired by) the next generation?
